May Recovery Roundup: £2m Recovered

May insights: Recoveries, trends and tips from Global Telemetrics

Festival season is upon us and this likely means rain is on the way at the weekends, as fans around the country prepare to scale the muddy fields, thieves are making their own moves to grab a headline spot by continuing to steal vehicles around the country. Global Telemetrics are pulling the plug, thanks to the recovery of £2m worth of vehicles during May, taking our lifetime recovery total to over £188m.

May Recovery Highlights

Most Recovered – Land Rover – including the models Defender, Discovery, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar

Other notable vehicles recovered include:

  • BMW X5
  • Ferrari Purosangue
  • Fiat Ducato Motorhomes
  • Ford Transit
  • KIA – Sorrento and Sportage
  • Lexus – ES 300H and RX 450H
  • Mercedes – AMG 63 and X-Class variants
  • Nissan Primastar Acenta
  • Peugeot Boxer
  • Toyota – Hilux and Rav 4
  • Volkswagen Transporter

Most expensive vehicle recovered – Ferrari Purosangue

When the Ferrari Purosangue below was stolen, thieves tried their hardest to make sure it wasn’t found. Numerous attempts were made to hide the vehicle including attempting to signal jam the device, changing number plates and then hiding 2 stories underground in a car park with a cover over the car. Our stolen vehicle recovery team are highly experienced in these situations and utilise many different techniques to locate the vehicle. Combined with our Repatriation Team’s fantastic knowledge of local areas and hotspots for vehicles to be taken to, this Purosangue, despite all the hiding attempts, was recovered in 2 hours from being confirmed as stolen to us.

One to watch – KIA

KIAs aren’t vehicles that appear often in our recovered lists usually, but during May and crossing over into the beginning of June we have been seeing various models of KIA being stolen and thankfully recovered emphasising the need for security solutions. So far we have seen models of Niro, Sorrento, and Sportage stolen and then recovered.

Quickest Recovery – 15 minutes

When our customer looked out the window around 10.30pm at the start of May, the last thing they expected to see was their Range Rover Sport being driven off their drive. Thankfully for the customer the Range Rover Sport was protected with one of our SmarTrack S5 devices. A quick phone call to our Secure Control Centre and our repatriations team were immediately deployed, liaising with police to pursue the moving vehicle. Within just 15 minutes of the initial call, our repatriation team had guided the police to the vehicle’s location, where it was quickly secured and brought under control.

Regional hotspots

After sharing the lead last month, London was back with a bang during May with 35% of all vehicles recovered during the month being from the London area. Across all the boroughs currently Barnet, Newham, and Westminster are the most targeted areas in 2025.

West Midlands and West Yorkshire were joint second place for locations each having 13% of all the vehicles recovered throughout May.

The Secret Meet

The Supercar Driver Secret Meet date has now been released and this year it will be at Silverstone on the 17th June. Once again Global Telemetrics are a title sponsor of the event and will have a strong presence throughout the day. We will also be covering this extensively on our Social Media, showcasing our garage, mario kart competitions, supercars on track, our guests and more.
