Immobilisation is a tried and tested method to prevent thefts from occurring. Immobilisation systems stop the vehicle from starting even if keys are present or signal replicated. Park in well-lit areasÂ
Darkness is a friend to a thief, the less they can be seen the better. A car parked in a well-lit area is an unattractive proposal compared to a car shrouded in darkness.
Keep your keys safe
Relay theft still remains a huge problem around the country; this method sees thieves using signals from your car keys to replicate the signal into their own devices to successfully unlock and start your car. These can be stopped by turning off keyless entry on your vehicle or using a faraday pouch to keep your car keys in.Â
Make your car less desirableÂ
Not all thefts are carefully planned out, some are opportunistic and a case of ‘wrong place, wrong time’ can make your vehicle a target. Ensure you don’t leave anything valuable on show in your car and consider using a steering lock as a car with a steering lock is a less than desirable option for thieves.Â
